Chicago Blues Brothers Show 08 - My Experience
I took part in the Blues Brothers show this year at the Playhouse Theatre in Norwich , it was great and very surprising! I wasn't very nervous when we were rehearsing at ARTS but when we got onto the stage with the band it got to my nerves a little bit, especially as I was chosen to do two dances, one with people my own age, and one with children younger than me.
I had done the show before with the same people, but each time it gets better. The atmosphere backstage is always very lively. Everyone's usually very exited to perform in front of their family and friends. Performing with a live band is a real privilege. It's a lot different to performing with music from a CD, if something goes wrong with the music then you just have to improvise.
This years show was a little different to the others. On one of the nights we performed there was a fire alarm. We were in the middle of taking pictures at the time but we all had to be evacuated to the front of the building. Everyone was worried but ARTS came to the rescue in our own fabulous style. We all made a massive circle around a tree in the centre on all the chaos, and led by Ruth we all sang the ARTS 'Anthem' and 'That's What Friends Are For', it was amazing, everyone was watching us as we sang at the top of our voices. Thanks to Ruth and the other teachers we managed to take everyone's mind off the alarm.
My family and friends loved the performance and danced along to music too. Everyone had a great night! I love doing the blues brothers show, its such great fun and a great experience.
