The first ever ARTS Annual Awards Ceremony set a very high standard for any ceremonies to follow. Having spoken to students and family and friends of students I think it is fair to say that the evening was a success and one enjoyed by everyone. For me, the evening, although very busy, was so much fun and I was so pleased to have been chosen by the AET (ARTS Events Team) to be on the Welcome Team for the evening. The evening would never have been such a success without a lot of hard work from a lot of people but three people in particular. Vicki, Andrew and Katy (Pic left to right) all put so much time and effort into the event and it definitely paid off. Everything was so professional from the room decorations, to the programmes and the presentation of the awards and to be just a small part of the evening was an honour.
The thing which I think showed ARTS off in its best light was the promotional video which was premiered during the ceremony. It really showed the dedication of the staff as well as how much all the students enjoy being at ARTS. It is such an asset to the school and I am sure will promote much interest through being posted on the website. Everyone entered the fun dressing in black and white and whilst it was strange to see everyone out of their dance gear it was lovely to see everyone in their glad rags!
Well done to all the performers; the band gave a brilliant performance and, as part of the choir, I would like to say a massive thank you to Sally who is such an inspirational and encouraging (air-grabbing!!!) teacher that I really feel that the choir has gone from strength to strength. Her enthusiasm is infectious for both members and audience alike and I feel so proud to be a part of the ARTS choir.
Finally, massive congratulations to everyone who won an award. Each person deserved the award they received and I hope that the evening will motivate students and make them realise that their hard work is rewarded. I cannot wait for the next awards night as I know it can only be stronger than this year’s ceremony.
